After four months of living in St. Louis we have discovered both positive and negative things about this city. Free Zoo, Steak and Shake, St. Louis Cardinals, Humidity, Beautiful Fall Trees to name a few. This week we took advantage of another benefit, its close proximity to Nauvoo. I had my first week off since starting school so along with our friends, the Van Burens, we took the drive up to Nauvoo. It only takes three hours to drive from St. Louis and is a beautiful drive. One negative about St. Louis is the absence of Wendy's. This has been a real struggle for our family so as soon as we hit the Illinois border we made a b-line for Wendy's (see Jackie and Natalie with their Wendy's cups).
Our first stop was the Carthage jail. We were all humbled to see that inspiring location.
After Carthage it was on to Nauvoo. I must say that Nauvoo with little children is a completely different experience. Christopher and his little friend Paige caused havoc everywhere we went. However, Nauvoo is a wonderful place and it was a really fun trip. If anyone wants to come and stay with us we would love to take you up there. Don't Forget, whoever comes to visit us out in Saint Louis gets a saved seat at Adam-Ondi-Ahman. I just realized that you can't see Tyler very well in any of these pictures so look for a Ty the Tank post to follow. Our "little" Tyler checked in at a mere 16 lbs at his latest weigh-in. Just a note - it took Christopher 10 months to reach that milestone.
